Guardian childcare & education moorabbin
The GC&E Moorabbin playground refurbishment project was designed to enhance the safety, playability, and aesthetic appeal of the outdoor play areas for both the nursery and kindergarten children. The project focused on replacing outdated and potentially hazardous elements with new, compliant features that encourage active and engaging play.
Key Project Highlights:
Safety Enhancements: The project prioritized safety by conducting underground services scans before any work began, ensuring that no utilities were damaged during the refurbishment. The installation of synthetic turf with a soft fall system further contributes to a safer play environment, reducing the risk of injuries from falls.
Play Area Upgrades: The play areas were revitalized with new features that cater to the different age groups. The nursery received new vegetable planters and a white picket fence, creating opportunities for gardening and imaginative play. The kindergarten area now boasts a sensory path, a timber fort with platforms and a bridge, and a refreshed water play area with a new hand pump, offering diverse play experiences that stimulate the senses and promote physical activity.
Natural Elements and Aesthetics: The project incorporated natural elements to enhance the aesthetic appeal and create a more inviting play environment. New garden beds were installed, and a fairy garden with a pebble-lined path was created, adding a touch of whimsy and encouraging children to connect with nature. The addition of plants and mulch further contributes to the natural ambiance.
Sustainability Considerations: The project also demonstrated a commitment to sustainability. The existing irrigation system was capped off to conserve water, and the inclusion of vegetable planters promotes environmental awareness and education.
